Ignacio Members' Comments on the LS Proposed Dress Code
Comments on Dress Code Issue:
- Fine by me to impose during meetings with guests, companies and if teacher wants. But please against the banning of flip flops particularly in the library. Hassle if you need a book, reading or when you want to study impromptu. Also please take note of the weather. If classrooms were all airconditioned, fine. But I’m still against people wearing tube tops and pekpek shorts to school.
- I think we could have it similar with the Sanggu stand and add that the students should actively strive to evaluate what for them is simple, appropriate and decent.
- I think that limitations should be given as to how short clothing can be or areas where slippers are not allowed. But it is not practical to have strict dress code because of the heat and the uneven roads that make our feet hurt. They also have to consider those who really can’t afford.
- There should be a dress code for interviews and formal academic events but are allowed during school hours. It’s not convenient to have a dress code especially because of the weather here. I just think that ateneo should give talks on the dress code in order to teach ateneans to dress appropriately. I think we are mature enough to face the consequences of our actions in our future jobs. NO DRESS CODE PLEASE!
- No to everything proposed.
- I think teachers implementing dress codes within their own classes is already enough. They should just be more vigilant I doing so, if they want to.
- Pro- Dress Code.
- I don’t agree with the dress code because it infringes on the students’ right to express themselves freely. Also, for the practical reasons- athletes who wear slippers coming from training, injured people who can’t wear jeans or shoes. We are not in high school we should be given the chance to be responsible for proper dressing. Students should do their part and dress accordingly.
- I believe that agreeing to having more explicit guidelines for the dress code is the more rational, mature and atenean answer. Most react negatively due to an apparent loss of freedom but freedom is not having no direction. What we lose in having stricter guidelines is convenience and that ain’t a necessity.
- No to the proposed dress code. It’s not practical.
- No to LS wide dresscode. Sanggu alternative is better.
